As for the Evil part of it I’ve always thought that their “infernal” connection is purely because they Wake up in Pandemonium – and, aside from that, they are simply Mind mages. The core rulebook seems to suggest that they only encounter these beings during their Awakenings A lot of the book seems written about a different version of Mage.
